The Midland Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club was founded by Mrs Barbara Spencer and a band of enthusiasts in the Midlands with the inaugural meeting taking place at Tewkesbury on 29th February 1976.

The first AGM and Limited Show was held the following year at Cheltenham Racecourse with Mrs Irene Booth elected President.

The Club made steady progress with members' Limited and Open Shows held annually and was delighted when in 1980 the Kennel Club awarded Challenge Certificates for the Club to hold a Championship Show which is now an annual event held at the end of the year.
